I set up Penguin Office Services and Penguin Transcription while living in Cambridge. Prior to that I had many years’ experience in a wide variety of administrative posts. Just before setting up the organisation I worked as Provost’s Secretary at King’s College, Cambridge. A lovely place to work! Previous roles included provision of secretarial services, PA work, project management and administration, academic and business report writing and editing, proof reading, presentation production and recruitment. I have worked for a range of companies and institutions from SMEs to multinational businesses.
I firmly believe that transcribing isn’t just about typing: it’s about listening, understanding, putting things in context, and an excellent knowledge of English language and grammar!
I have a degree and a doctorate, and I also hold the Diploma in Recruitment Practice, the membership qualification for the Recruitment and Employment Confederation.
My husband and I, and our two cats, live near Watton and we really love the Wayland area of Norfolk. When I’m not typing, I’m learning Spanish (slowly) and botanical drawing (slightly faster) and also like to take photographs, crochet, embroider and walk in this beautiful part of England.
